Jacking points
I have the standard Bilstein jack for raising the vehicle but it always makes me cringe when using even though it lifts the vehicle ok, my problem is that I am on uneven ground on gravel and the base of the jack moves as the weight loads on it. I have other trolley jacks but do not want to place them in the wrong place and damage underneath the vehicle. Ideally when lifted I then can put axle stands in place as an obvious added safety. Have looked at WIKI but cannot find the ideal places to place both a trolley jack and an axle stands. Any tips welcomed.

I jack up under the suspension arms and put the stands under the jacking points.

Trolley jack under the cross members and then jack stand under the jacking points.

Bit of a thread resurrection here, my apologies in advance.
I'm no engineer but to my mind the lifting of the vehicle from the jacking points with the standard jack, all the weight transference is at the top of the point, i.e. the strengthened part of the sill. I can see the 'cage' if you like, for the jack tube is what, about 2.5 to 3.mm so good and strong. However, is it really strong enough that it's safe to put axle stands there, I mean, the design of those jacking points is the weight is not taken from the bottom so why would it be acceptable to put all the weight there onto the stands?
To add, yes I have used axle stands under the jacking points with no problems and will do it again, it's just something that popped into my mind the other day, any technical engineer able to answer this?

The jacking points are also the designed lifting points for a vehicle hoist, so plenty strong enough.

The jacking points are NOT used as lifting points with a vehicle hoist, the contact pads are placed on the crossmember inwards of both front and rear roadside jacking points that is where the strength and stability is for a safe damage free lift. The roadside jacking points shouldnt be used for lifting from underneath or the location for axle stands.
