I don't want to make an expensive mistake.

It will be just a reduction in tyre noise.

and traction in mud :D

Aircooled vw drivers have had to face up to expensive replacement heat exchangers for 40 years, and no-one has yet come up with a better solution than buying new heat exchangers

*or fitting a watercooled engine / eber heater / buying an old watercooled audi for winter

Re: Tyre Sizes - What's the deal

The first is using 235/75/15 and the second 215/70/15. From what I have been told the 215/70s should give me a higher cruising speed but this spreadsheet doesn't seem to agree. What am I missing. you've been told wrong, and the spreadsheet is right. 235/75/15 will have a larger circumference, and t...

[Anyway, it was the relatively GREEN aspect of remoulds that got me thinking about the topic.. well, that's a good point, and the recycling of tyres has to be a good thing, surely. :?: but you need to check the rolling resistance and the expected milage of all tyres. then work out a cost benifit an...

Re: Remoulds?

Are they still considered a bad / dangerous idea? they have to pass quality control & EC tests before you can buy them, so loads better than second hand, IMHO. however, tyres may last 10000-50000 miles depending upon car & driver & make of tyre, so the cost is spread over a long time, a...

hello & welcome well if it's '81 and Aircooled, i don't think it'd be a 1.9, possible but almost unheard of. it'll be much more likely to be a 2.0, and if when you say it holds 55-60, then my 2.0 a/c would comfortably hold 70, if you're talking MPH. it was poptop, and if yours is hightop then ob...

Re: My Van Work In Progress

looks like you've done brilliantly so far :D what's the final colour going to be? i don't need to get her on and off the ferry, she is getting slammed gonna go for an 60-80mm drop all round. mines lowered (55 or 80?) and goes on/off ferry no problem :D corners loads better than a stock one too it's ...
